After writing my visual analysis, which is in a pervious blog post, I chose three of my favourite adjectives from the text to then use them to inspire photography, I chose the words Reflection, Minimal and Bright. I did plan much before I went to look around Nottingham to take photos, I wanted to see what would stand out to me and relate to my chosen words as there would probaly be many that I hadn't thought of. I first started by walking through the uni blocks and streets around and found these photos:

The first is of some doors to the libary, the main thought behind these was that they were reflective and then I realised they are also very minimal as there are quite basic colours and design is very simple without much detail. The next was of one of the accomodation blocks, I chose this inspired by the word bright as the sun was shinning on the building and its a light colour which is bright compared to the dark greys on the building next to it. The next two were of more windows which were reflecting the buildings and sky opposite them. The next photo was down one of the roads at the end of the university, the sun was perfectly coming through the gaps between the building, causing all of the scenery and buildings in front of the sun to look very dark and the sun was very bright, lighting up the sky. The next image is very simular with the bright sky and dark street contrasting.

I then went into the local shopping centre as I thought I would be able to find some interesting displays and decorations with it being so near to Christmas and these were the ones I took:

The first was of the ceiling as you enter into the shopping centre, I thought it was so interesting as you usually don't see this sort of design in public. The red and white lights coming from the cracks mad the ceiling very bright and the deign is quite minimal with the basic square and circle shapes creating the design. I next went into River Island and saw this amazing ceiling with all of the bright light strips, I then noticed the mirrored pillar and saw how it reflected all of the light strips and I thought it looked amazing with all the reflections going in different directions and connecting to one another. It's also very minimal as the image is made up of all straight lines. The next thing I photographed was the front window display, they had some more of the lights and featured some disco balls which were reflecting all of the bright lights. The next image is a bauble which was in another store display, this reflected all of the surrounding glitter setting and also me.

We then went back outside to look around the streets and stores outside and these were the images I took:

The first was of this store which was very minimal as there was no window display it was the just name and then dark blue, with the glass reflecting the street. The next was of a HSBC, I took this photo because its very minimal with just white walls, grey logo and brown shutters to fill the window displays but then I noticed the sun was reflecting on the windows and the sun and clean white exterior was very bright. I next went into John Lewis as I know from previous years that they always have great Christmas displays and from my previous photos I noticed a key theme was Christmas displays. The first photo is of a ceiling display I noticed, its created from pieces of gold and fairy lights hanging down. The gold pieces were a reflective material which worked really well with the bright fairy lights as they reflected and repeated the lights along the display. The next object I photographed was actually a reflective silver bowl, once again this reflected the bright lights within the store, whilst still being very minimal with only small details of the dots throughout the bowl. I then noticed the lighting section of the store which was very bright from all of the lighting fixtures which were on display. Some of the lighting fixtures were very minimal and some were reflective, dependent on their material and design, therefore I took some photos focused on certain lights. The next photos are of lava lamps, I felt these were definitely fitting to the adjective bright with all of the colours being used, some also featured the small reflective flecks which reflected the light within the lamp and surroundings.
