At the end of our first term, FASH10105 we were set a summative project based on a S/S 2020 trend, a store and an outcome, mine were Prints from the Past, Allsaints and Digital. We were also assessed on our workbooks from the first term and our first 30 blogs. For this I recieved a 2:1 which I was very happy with for my first result especially as I didn't feel it was some of my best work. I feel the best way to improve on my work is to review my feedback and grow from it to create more successful work.

In my feedback my areas of strength were;

Report: You have spent considerable time on the design of your report – well done, this is a very good first submission.

I did spend a while learning to use InDesign as I had never used it before but as I learnt the basics I enjoyed looking into the more complex methods and designs to create a more interesting page. I look forward to learning more tips and trick on InDesign and come up with a strong aesthetic for future projects.

You carried out some very good research at the context stage which could have been used to influence the design of the report, reflect on this at the concepts stage and consider typography, layout and colours that could connect the themes of your work with the final design of your report.

This was a really interesting bit of feedback and something I hadn't thought about before, but it is so relevant and would make the piece really interesting so this is something I look forward to do in future projects as I further my concentration onto the design on the pages as my skills develop. I will definetely in the future create a strong, relevant theme to my work.

Sketchbook: You do a very good job of documenting your working process throughout your sketchbooks, you clearly highlight insights & reflection, and areas you have revisited as your work has progressed. Keep this up.

This is something which I reflected on in a previous blog about my workbook feedback, I feel like I have learnt the best things to document in my workbook and I want to now focus a bit more of the aesthetic now I have the right content.

Blog: You have really committed to this brief this semester. You ‘long read’ pieces are detailed and are helping to hone your critical voice – as the brief requires. Moving into semester 2 create sub-titles to help focus your writing so it is more focused on themes relating to FCP and personal interests.

I'm really glad that my commitment to my blogs was clear, I tried really hard to get them all to a high standard and I feel I do get carried away with my writing when I'm really interested in a subject so some are quite long so I want to try and not go too off topic. I have also now created sub-titles which is a really good idea to keep them all organised and for me to see which areas I should probably took base on a bit more if there isn't many in that category

It is great you have set up and connected your FCP Instagram to your blog. Challenge yourself to include more detailed written summaries of the posts.

Having my FCP instagram has been a great way to quickly and easily showcase the work I am doing for the course, I definetly agree that the captions could be more descripitive so this is something I will try to improve on going forward

And my areas to improve are:

Report: You have done a very good job at the context, ideas & outcome stages of your report, however it is clear you do not fully understand the concept stage. Revisit any lectures or seminar sessions on the NOW related to this to revise this area of the FCP process.

I agree that I don't fully understand the concept stage so I will definetly do these things and practice my methods until I feel comfortable at this stage as it is crucial to my idea development to my outcomes.

You have made a good attempt at primary research throughout the context stage of the report, however the questions you have asked relating to AllSaints do not prompt or nurture unique responses that have the potential to impact your outcome.

I again agree with this, I wish I had taken my findings further or even used them more as evidence throughout my work. Going forward I will try to go further in my research rather than just ask one question and list the result as these could be some really helpful insights to aid my idea and outcomes

Sketchbook: All the research you have carried out in your sketchbook is sourced from google or Pinterest. In semester 2 ensure you take advantage of the libraries resources, this will positivity impact the context & concepts stages of the FCP process.

This is something I do really need to do and it will also help me get a further look and different perspective on topics so I will definetly be trying to use a wider source of resources for my research

Blog: Although you have included some very good blog posts which are related to FCP and help hone your critical opinion, you have also written some posts which are not relevant or related to the course: ‘meet my family’, ‘OOTD’, ‘Black Friday haul’…

I don't completely agree with this as when the blog was set to us we were told to write some on completely random subjects not related to the course, but I do agree that I need to write some more that are related to FCP and this is what I will aim to do next term
