I was looking through my blog posts and realised I haven't really spoke about any of my friends or family and as they are such a massive part of my life I thought I would tell you about them to get to know me a bit better. We will start with my family, so my parents are divorced so I have two families basically, my parents divorced when I was four so I've grown up with my family like this. My mums called Tanya and my dads called Robin, they had me and my older sister Kaitlin who is now 23 before they separated. My mum is now married to my step dad Tony and they have had one daughter called Sarah who is currently 12 and I have a step sister called Laura from my step dad who is also 19. My dad also remarried in 2007 to my step mum called Keisha and they also have had another daughter called Eden who is now 8. So I have four sisters, which has its pros and its cons but I love them a lot but have a completely different relationship with them all. Me and my older sister, Kait, are really close because we have been through so much together and we are so similar but so different so it just works really well. And I do have another 'sister', our dog Nickie, she is basically my dads 4th daughter and I think his favourite.
On my mums side I have a massive family, complete with 20 cousins, 10 boys and 10 girls as my mum has 4 sisters and a brother and they all had a lot of children. My mums parents are also divorced so on her side I have a grandma and two grandads, so a very big family. My cousins ages range from 6 months to 26 years old, so we have quite the variety and I love them all so much, usually big families loose contact or aren't very close with all the members, but we are all so close and I wouldn't change them for the world. I have quite a few around my age and we are like best friends and I've grown up being so close to them all. I am the 5th oldest cousin. On my dads side its quite the opposite, I have only 3 cousins as my dad only has one brother. On this side I have one boy and two girl cousins, they range from 21 to 16, one of them, Anna, is 20 so we are really close and always have been growing up. I have my dads mum and dad as well who are the best grandparents. Although this side of my family is a lot smaller we are all still so close and I love them so much.
On to friends, not to be cringe but I'd have to say my best friend is my boyfriend Sam, we have been together since 7th June 2015, so currently 4 and half years. We have been through so much together and he is there for me through everything and honestly just knows me like no body else does. We began being friends when we were 14 and I'm now nearly 20 so we really have grown up together and I feel like these are the years you grow the most and I'm so glad we've gone through them together. We went to secondary school, sixth form and uni together, which wasn't planned.. As you will know if you've read my previous blog on dropping out of uni I went to one which was a 5 hour journey from him here in Nottingham, I was there for a year so we did really experience long distance and it's true what people say about it bringing you closer together, you really appreciate the moments you have together and now I'm here in Nottingham with him I know not to take advantage of it.
For friends I would say I have three best friends at home; Katie, Ellie and Lauren. I met Katie in year 7 and we used to be in a group together with two other girls but then in year 9 we went our seperate way but me and Katie have always stayed close and I love her more than anything and after 8 years of friendship I hope we carry on forever. She is at uni in Reading so I don't get a chance to visit her during term time which isn't the best but like with any long distance relationship, we really appreciate our time together. I met Ellie and Lauren through a mutual friend as they didn't go to my school, we met when we were in secondary school but we really became close through our years at sixth form. They have from there became my closest girl friends and I know they will be there through anything. Ellie is luckily at NTU as well so I get to see her more often than my other friends which is so nice when I'm in need of a friendly face and it really helped to settle into Nottingham knowing she was here. Lauren is at uni in Leeds so I don't get to see her as much.
For my friends at uni, I live in a flat with 4 other girls; Imo, Alex, Masona and Emily who are all so lovely and I get on with really well. I'm so lucky to be in a flat with people I can get on with so well. I'd say my closest friend I have made at uni is Laura who lives in the flat next door to me, we are so crazy similar whether it be about fashion or family we are literally the same and I just instantly clicked with her which I am so fortunate to have. We go to gymnastics together, where I have met so many other amazing girls. Also on my course I have met some of the greatest people I have ever met, through group work and living situations I have met so many different people and I am so lucky to have met such lovely people.
They are probably the most important people in my life for you to know about and it also gives you a bit of an insight into my life xx
