I recently watched the new Netflix series 'The Stranger', I actually watched the whole series, 8 episodes in one day because I was that hooked. The series came out early this year, 2020 and I heard a mixture of reviews, some people said they couldn't stop watching it and it was one of the best series they'd watched, whereas a couple people said they really couldn't get into it and didn't understand. As a summary the series is about a stranger, shock, who approaches others and reveals secrets about them and their loved ones, sometimes asking for money to keep quiet. There are a few different story lines in the series, one about a mans wife who goes missing, some teenagers who have a secret rave and someone gets hurt and one surrounding the detective and her friend. There is constantly twists and cliff hangers as more and more is revealed each episode, you always want to watch the next to know what happens.

There will be spoilers in this review so if you haven't watched it I would advise not reading on, but I would 1000% recommend watching the series. My favourite thing about the series is the fact that there are so many different stories happening to different people that seem so unconnected and it's confusing as to why we are seeing all these people, however as more things are revealed throughout we end up seeing that they are actually all connected and some of the connections are crazy but so interesting. However some of the connections do end up being very cliche, such as the stranger ending up being the main characters sister, that was a bit cringe and just so highly unlikely, I didn't feel it added much to the story and wasn't really necessary.

To be honest the opening scenes weren't my favourite, with the llama head being found, it's slightly off putting and I don't see it's massive relevance in the series and also the whole stranger section of the episode where she comes up to the man is very brief and I feel as thats what the whole series is about there should have been a little more happening surrounding that encounter as this is the first episode and when we first see the stranger.

I absolutely love the old man who's trying to save his house, I think he's hilarious and so cute and I had a lot of sympathy for him surrounding his wife leaving him. I love his connection with the main character and how they work together to find people. That is until his wife is found in the wall, which can I say was the biggest twist ever, loved that, it added so much more to the story as it was so unexpected. However I hated the twist where the stranger was his daughter, like where did that come from but then the episode after she's not even his daughter, very confusing.

I didn't really enjoy the acting from the girl who played Daisy, she wasn't the best and even her character is very confusing and odd. Where as the two sons I thought their acting was amazing especially the younger one, for his age I felt he portrayed the role amazingly.

Another massive twist that I loved was when Katz realised that he had killed his colleges best friend and then how sneaky he was and it really shed light on how easily a police man can get away with things. But then again I didn't really understand why he killed her as she didn't know the man he was working for.

I feel near the end they thought lets just throw in as many twists and secrets to the series as possible, with adding about the dads and then about the girls mother making her ill, it did get quite a lot but then again it really kept you hocked, I couldn't stop watching I always needed to know what happened next.

The ending was a big shock, I really thought that his friend was taking him to where his wife was staying, but no. I couldn't believe he did that and had been able to get away with it for so long, being so close to the family, but it made so much sense when he explained it and blew my mind. However I was taken back when Adam shot Doug and then was very confused as to why Johanna helped him cover it up but I guess we will never know.

Although have a few issues with some parts of the series I absolutely loved and would recommend to anyone, however I don't feel they could do a second series unless it was about completely different people as I could get repetitive and unrealistic.
