Mood Boards

Mood board 1 - the current fragrance market. Focused on spring perfume adverts and how they are all so similar and showing how brands aren’t taking risks or trying something different. The colour palette and themes are very consistent through different brands. I only revealed parts of the images as a way of demonstrating that they are still recognisable as they are so over used and cliche. Some images are slightly distorted to show we need some change and these are fading out and getting lost in the over load of advertisements

Mood board 2 - based on the fragrance brand 'I hate perfume'. The main image is a mask because Christopher Brosius wrote in his manifesto that perfume is an opaque shell concealing everything, revealing nothin, a childish masque hiding the insecure and unimaginative. The red paint across the mouth is to show the hate he feels towards the masking perfume that everyone has, I used red as it displays passion and the hate he holds for perfume is very strong and passionate so I really wanted this to stand out. Around the mask I used images of what Christopher’s brand I hate perfume stands for, he believes that perfume is the fanfare of our individuality sounding differently to everyone that listens, this is why I only coloured in the one man in the line of people, to show his individuality that he represents through his perfume. Christopher also believes that “perfume is a signpost to our true selves, a different journey for the brave fo travel” which can be seen on the image of the two people hiking. He also states “perfume is discovered fully only by our lovers when we are together - naked” so I used the image of the women in a revealing position or this can be seen as self love dependent on your personal feelings as Christopher also wants to use perfume to “encourage you to be yourself”. He says “perfume is more than mere accessory - it is art” which is why I placed the paint brush at the top and why all of the images are line drawings as I wanted this to feel like a piece of art, raw and open to personal interpretations and feelings as this brand is all about giving consumers a personal “experience”.

Mood board 3 - based on the theme natural rituals. With the current pandemic people are focusing more on themselves and self care which is what I based this board on. Highlighting the natural products we use for skin care and relaxation in this time of confusion.
