January 13th 2020 I began my trip to New York with my university course. I left my flat at 3am... not enjoyable, we met at uni at 3:15 to get a 2hr30 coach to London Heathrow for our flight. I started my day off with a peng cheese omelette and breakfast potatoes at a resturant in the airport and then boarded our flight at 9:30. The flight was long, I think 7 hours but there was some good films on the plane TV and I downloaded some stuff on my iPad so it wasn't too bad. When we landed it was quite a long process to get everyone through security as there was nearly 100 of us but then we finally set off on another hour coach journey. On this journey I did get some amazing views of New York at a distance and up close through all the streets and it got me excited for what was to come. When we arrived we checked into our hotel, we stayed in the Gallivant Times Square which was a really nice modern hotel in Times Square which was an amazing location, would highly recommend, however we were on the 14th floor so getting the lift was a long process and the views weren't that great but overall I enjoyed the hotel. We straight away got ready to go out and explore the city. We walked through Times Square which was surreal, I've seen it in so many films and photos so to actually be there was amazing, however it was slightly disappointing, I'd heard such amazing things and I think I had my expectations very high and they weren't quite met, but I still loved it. We walked for about 15 minutes to Hudson Yards to go up the Vessle, a recently built structure. From the outside it was amazing to look at, espeically in the dark the lights were amazing. I took this photograph looking up at the vessle from the inside which I thought looked gorgoues and showed off the very unique structure. We began our walk up the many steps, the views from one side were amazing, you could see all the skyscrapers and in the night with all the lights on it looked even better, looked very 'New York' and from one of the other sides you could see the shopping centre which looked amazing with all the designer stores. But I can't lie to you it did get very repetative, not much difference as you went up the floors, just a lot of steps, we did go to the top just because I feel like you need to but I would have happily stopped half way, not sure if I would recommend this or not, it is free entry so I guess if you are nearby it wouldn't hurt to give it a visit but I wouldn't go out of my way to get there. After this we went to look in the shops which were quite nice which a mixture of designer and high street stores, I looked around a sweet shop in there which had some very unique sweets. I did notice though that the shops were quite quiet, doesn't seem to be a very popular. We went for food at somewhere my friend had been recommended called Mighty Quinns, a BBQ resturant which was amazing, I had a side of mac&cheese and a side of brisket BBQ beans which were both soo nice, my friend had the loaded fries that they said were really good but a bit spicy, would defo recommend. We then walked back through time square to the hotel and went to bad as we were so tired from travelling.
